I spent years building cost estimation spreadsheets from Revit and IFC files by hand or by Frankenstein-ERPs. Last week I replaced that entire workflow with two sentences.
How It Works Now
1
One message in Claude Code. I typed one message asking it to grab the free DDC converters from GitHub, convert a Revit file to Excel, analyze the project, and generate a quantity takeoff. No Revit installed. No plugins. No config files.
2
Automatic pipeline. It downloaded the tools, converted the file, parsed 100k+ elements across 1,272 properties, produced a full QTO, and saved the entire pipeline as a reusable script.
3
Scale instantly. Then I wrote a second message: "now run the same on all files on my server." 250 Revit projects. Full analytics dashboard. Done.
250Revit Projects Processed
1,272Properties per Element
100k+Elements Parsed
What This Means
This is not a demo or a concept. This is a real workflow running on real construction data. The AI agent handles the entire chain: file conversion, data parsing, classification, quantity takeoff, and visualization. All from natural language.
The converters handle Revit, IFC, DWG, and DGN formats — all free, no CAD licenses required.

If you have any cases in mind that you believe will never be handled in this manner, please leave a comment or send me a private message. I will provide you with feedback and some insights on these topics.
